We Are Live (2022) is a multimedia installation that explores humanity's growing tendency toward escapism. The installation consists of a CRT television and two paper-mâché sculptures: a clown and his dog. The clown is trapped in a moment of escapism, gazing at a TV screen, which continuously loops the same videos. The first video plays a grim advertisement with the phrase "We Are Live," followed by a close-up of a real person wearing the same clown mask. The installation reflects on the influence of digitalization on our understanding of life and reality.
From May 2022 to February 2023, We Are Live was exhibited in the showcases at Breda Station.
