Nachtvlucht (translated as Nightflight) is a short documentary, filmed entirely with GoPro cameras, offering an unfiltered, immersive look into the nightlife of Breda just after the COVID-19 lockdowns.
On one hand, Nightflight celebrates the magic of nightlife—a space where people collectively escape the monotony of daily life, dance with friends, and immerse themselves in the euphoric, intoxicating energy of the club scene. On the other hand, it confronts the less glamorous aspects: how young people interact with those who have no place to call home after dark, and how slurs are casually thrown around as a means of fitting in.
Set against the backdrop of a post-pandemic world—where the need to reconnect feels more urgent than ever—this documentary explores the intensified nightlife in the aftermath of the lockdowns. With headlines highlighting a “harder” club scene marked by rising drug use and incidents, the film captures a generation eager to reclaim their “lost years” of going out.
